Health and Wellness Insurance
As a information source for our members, our post would like to be clear that we are in no way endorsing or encouraging members to utilize the healthcare options discussed below. It is our intention to simply close the information gap of our members and provide you with publicly available resources. We understand that there is a wide array of information scattered across the internet. Our intent is to assemble useful information to aide in your own personal decisions.
As a Veteran VFW member, you have exclusive access to life planning products and insurance from the VFW Insurance Program, administered by Lockton Affinity. The health and wellness insurance strives to make health care-related expenses manageable for Veterans and their families. From yearly check-ups and dental procedures to cancer treatment, learn more about the comprehensive policies designed for Veterans like you. You can learn more about healthcare available through the VFW here.
VA Health and Wellness
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veteran programs for health and wellness offer information, resources, and treatment options to help you stay healthy. VA health and wellness programs are there to help you care for your mind and body. The programs include nutrition and food services, tobacco and health, weight management, women's health, mental health, and whole health. The also offer programs for preventing and managing diseases as illnesses to include prevention, public health, vaccines and immunizations, and influenza vaccines. Flagler Free Clinic
Since 2005, the Flagler Free Clinic has been a vital lifeline for uninsured residents of Flagler and Volusia Counties, offering free, high-quality healthcare to those who need it most. As a compassionate nonprofit, our mission is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteer medical professionals and community members who give their time and talent to ensure every patient receives the care they deserve. To see if you or your family members qualify here or learn more about Flagler Free Clinic here. This service could be available to VFW members and Auxiliary members.
Exercise
Regular physical activity improves cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, and reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. It helps manage weight, improves insulin sensitivity, and strengthens bones and muscles, which is especially important for older adults. Even short bursts of activity—like walking, stretching, or light resistance training—can lower anxiety, improve sleep, and boost mood.
Exercise reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety, sharpens cognitive function, and can help maintain memory and learning abilities as you age. For VFW members, who often serve in leadership and community roles, these benefits support resilience, focus, and emotional balance. The Department of Health and Human Services and the American Heart Association recommend at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (brisk walking, cycling, and/or swimming). This breaks down to 30 minutes a day for five days in the week. Stay healthy and active...and don't worry the post is not going to schedule a 4-mile run for the members.
